Death and taxes are two things we all face. While we cannot help you with your taxes, we can suggest ways to age better. Here’s what we’ve learned from a variety of experts, both young and old.

Watch What You Eat and Drink.

Eating too much and eating too much drunk, along with drinking likely won’t help most of us live until 100.

Look After Your Teeth

Yes, bad teeth can mean bad things for the rest of your body so go see your dentist today if it’s been a while.

Get Good Sleep.

This is so important. Consistent, 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night revitalizes your body, keeps colds and other viruses away and helps you make the most of your day.

Quit smoking

Really? You’re still smoking?! Give that up. Smoking does kill!

Be Social!

Loneliness not only can impact your mental health, but it can also lead to physical illnesses. Chatting, smiling, and being with others, keeps us connected and hey, everyone needs a friendly face every now and again right? We’ll write more about loneliness and aging soon.

Get a Health Screening

Having a blood test once or twice a year isn’t a bad idea as you age. These tests can spot something you weren’t aware of or help you avoid illnesses later on.

Keep Active

Yes! Running, walking, light stretching, or even lifting weights is really important to a healthier, happier and longer life. You know this, don’t you? Just do it!

Take Some Vitamins

Getting a boost can help you. For example, a deficiency in Vitamin D can lead to cognitive deficiencies, bone issues or heart problems. At a minimum, get out in the sun for 15-20 minutes a day.

See Your Doctor

As youngsters, we all thought we were invincible. Now we know that’s not true. It’s important to get regular checkups to ensure you’re where you need to be with your health.

Check Your Meds!

Have you been taking the same medicines for a long time? Do you take more than 2 pills a day? It might be time to see your doctor, ensuring your medicine regimen still works for you. Perhaps the combination of medicines is no longer serving you well? Or, maybe there are some medicines you simply don’t need any longer.

Laugh a lot!

Okay, this one actually makes 11 tips but who’s counting? We have no idea if this will lead to a longer life and there is no medical science to suggest this will keep you healthy, but we do know it’s a lot of fun to laugh!
